Artist Statement
I find a deep satisfaction in creating art that makes me smile, tells a story, or captures a moment. Inspiration often comes from the play of light and shadow or the mood and feel of a scene or subject. Sometimes, I simply want to symbolize a personal realization or communicate a lesson learned or process in my life.
As an emerging contemporary realist artist, I am exploring a style of my own by experimenting with media, surfaces and subject matter. I primarily use pastels to realistically depict wildlife and animals (including humans!), flora, and natural scenery in a way that highlights beauty, contrast, and color to evoke pleasure, memory, contentment, or ease. I want to share the art I enjoy seeing on the walls of my home and to help others bring their stories and images to the walls of their homes.
